Course Overview

Why This Hands-On Course Is For You

A first aid emergency can occur at any time.  And it’s more likely in your clinic, because you actively invite people with problems in to see you.  And there’s no guarantee that the problem is what they think it is.

First Aid Is An Essential

First aid skills are a fundamental expectation in modern healthcare. Patients, the public, and regulators all need reassurance that you and your team can respond effectively to potentially life-threatening emergencies when they arise.

This hands-on course is designed with real clinical environments in mind. Delivered by APM instructors Steven Bruce and Malcolm Parnell, it focuses on the emergencies most likely to occur in practice, making the training practical, relevant, and immediately useful.

The course is engaging, highly practical, and taught in a small group to ensure close supervision and confidence-building. You’ll leave with an HSE-recognised Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years, and the assurance that you’re prepared when it matters most.

Improved confidence in managing on-site emergencies

Faster clinical decision-making under pressure

Reduced clinical and professional risk

A safer, more prepared clinic environment

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, clinic staff, and members of the public who want the confidence and skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies. It is particularly relevant for those working in or around clinical environments.

Your Instructors

Steven Bruce & Malcolm Parnell

First off, there are two instructors—which means two perspectives, two voices, and very much double the humour. That alone makes the day more engaging, more interactive, and a lot more enjoyable than your average first aid course. You’ll be taught by people who are genuinely comfortable on their feet and know how to keep energy levels up without losing focus on what really matters.

One instructor is a former Marine who went on to become an osteopath; the other is a former paramedic who has dealt with real emergencies in the real world. Between them, they’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and what should never be done. Neither has any interest in teaching first aid 'by the book' alone - everything is put into real-world context, explained clearly, and stress-tested against reality. First aid myths are identified, challenged, and, where necessary, cold-bloodedly slaughtered (the Marine insists on handling that part).
