Otago Exercises: Balance – Niki Dunkley
Niki Dunkley leads Silver Strength and Move To The Beat exercise classes, both designed to support the health and wellbeing of older adults. She recognises that as people age, muscle naturally loses size and strength, often leading to fatigue, weakness, and a reduced tolerance for exercise.
Understanding how vital physical activity is for both physical and mental health, Niki emphasises that exercise releases dopamine and serotonin — key hormones that enhance mood and overall wellbeing.
Her Silver Strength class follows the Otago strength and balance programme, focusing on improving posture, building core strength, and reducing the risk of falls. Move To The Beat is a chair-based exercise class set to music — a fun, effective, and safe workout for those who may not be able to attend traditional exercise sessions.
Niki’s classes are fully inclusive, welcoming everyone regardless of ability or circumstance.
