Rehabilitation After Major Knee Surgery – Professor David Barrett

August 7, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Professor Barrett is one of the senior specialist knee surgeons in the UK.

Trained in both the UK  and USA, he is a renowned specialist knee surgeon, recognised worldwide and with an enviable reputation both nationally and internationally.

As lead consultant at Southampton University Hospital and Professor of Orthopaedic Engineering, Professor Barrett has developed a number of innovative procedures to address the complex problems in knee surgery, for the benefit of his patients.

A long-held research and academic career has allowed Professor Barrett to be integral in the design of a variety of knee prostheses that are now used worldwide. In particular, he has developed minimal invasive techniques which lead to smaller procedures. This in turn benefits patients considerably in terms of speed of mobilisation and activity in the postoperative phase.

Professor Barrett lectures throughout the world on his techniques and knee design expertise. He is a recognised senior opinion in complex and challenging cases. His operative practice is based at London’s prestigious King Edward VII hospital in Marylebone where he consults and performs surgery with the latest technical equipment. Patients local to Southampton may be seen at the Spire Southampton Hospital, one of the best-equipped hospitals on the South Coast for both consultation and operative surgery
